The Union Republics forming the USSR, a multinational federal state, possess broad competence in civil legislation. The civil codes published in 1963-64 in all the 15 Union Republics are major sources of Soviet civil law. This book presents the main content of these codes and examines the principal features that distinguish them from earlier legislation and from one another. The correlation between the Republican codes and USSR civil legislation is also shown.
